Better Late Than Never?

I just realized that i never posted my topic for my paper.
Brett is probably mad at me.

Well, here you are:

Every day, more and more people are joining social networking sites, like facebook. According to a new report from Netpop Research; Social networking among US broadband users has grown 93% since 2006. In fact, the average person is a member of up to 4 social networking sites and on average their online communication has increased from 18%, to 32% of total time spent online. People have been spending and sharing way too much on these sites. It seems like as a result of online networking, people have become reliant on self affirmation. And it is my argument that online social networking is the cause of the deterioration of language today.

Fantasmateam

As some of you might know, i have entered a film into the Reel Teal Film Festival this friday.
My video is going to be the opening video.
I won't be judged for the any of 4 awards and is really only there for 'enteratinment'
(story of my life)
but it will be up for the audience choice.
which in my opinion is really the one that matters.

The video, as you might have guessed, is called Fantasmateam.
It is a sci-fi comedy about a duo of action heroes that save the day.
My friend Scott helped me out by being the other half of the duo and he even scored the entire soundtrack from scratch. This guy is a genius.
He is one half of the YouTube group Spoonbank that casted me as the Star Wars kid in their latest video, Good Morning Internet.

It is 'loosely' based off of laser cats, from Saturday Night Live.

I have spent the past month or so working on this video almost everyday for several hours.
I am really nervous about the premier because i am not sure how the audience will respond to it.
It really could go either way.

wish me luck!

Natalie Imbruglia

I'm Torn.
My future is rapidly approaching.
I need to choose a major.
But do i choose a Theatre major?
or a Film Major?

I want to be an actor.
On stage, or on Film, either is great.

There isn't, as far as i know, an actng concentration in the Film major.
But there is a performance concentration in Theatre.

If i do go with the Film major, i would take the Theatre minor.
But if i take a Theatre major, there is no Film minor.

I know that the Film program at UNCW is great, and the Theatre is on it's way to be.
I know that a Film major might be more practical in the long run.
But i'm not sure if thats what i want to do.

I would ike to teach for the first couple of years that i am out of college before i go out and try to be a professional actor.

There are so many different things going through my mind right now about both majors that i can't even write them all down.

Thoughts?

Nickelodeon. Dang.

Every kid remembers their favorite TV shows; after all, channel surfing was one of the many pleasures of life as a kid.
However, when I was a child there was no need to channel surf, for every show that I longed for was on one beautiful channel...that channel was NICKELODEON!
Nickelodeon featured some of the best kid programming, including: cartoons, game shows, and kid focused sitcoms. Even though I wasn't a full time subscriber, I can even remember getting an issue of Nickelodeon magazine at Pizza Hut, and I loved it.
Thinking back to the real early years, I can remember watching shows such as Hey Arnold, Eurekas Castle, and All That.
As the years progressed, my love for Nickelodeon bloomed that much more. Not only were the shows great, the little surprises Nickelodeon threw in there always put a smile on my face. You remember Inside Out Boy don't you?
Nickelodeon saw it fit to claim rights to all of their cartoons by labeling them as "NickToons". These cartoons were unique and always seemed, I don't know, fresh! Doug, Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, etc... they were all so legendary in their own ways. I can remember sitting around on hot summer days, and on Thanksgiving watching a talking Popsicle stick spin around, to chose which NickToons we were fixing to watch.
Whether you loved him or hated him, Stick Stickly had YOUR Nicktoon fate at hand, and I think he deserves recognition for all of the astronaut type training spins he did for us back in the day.
Reality TV can be seen on pretty much every station around today. However, if you were a Nickelodeon kid, this concept is all but foreign to you. Although our game shows were more about family fun and less about cheap drama, the excitement was all there, and the slime was always fresh! Shows like Double Dare, Wild and Crazy Kids, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and What Would you Do, provided on couch edge excitement to those who only wished they could be a part.
The sitcoms and shows of Nickelodeon are truly blog worthy alone. Whether you wanted comedy, drama, or horror, Nickelodeon covered it all. Countless numbers of Saturday nights were spent watching Snick, which is where many of the shows got their spotlight. Although Snick featured the goods, many shows were played on Nickelodeon at random times. I always waited for the guy with the deep voice to tell us what was coming on next, as the credits rolled for the previous show. Nickelodeon was more than just a channel, it was a childhood must!
I can't imagine my childhood without this awesome channel. Although it seems that Nickelodeon has went downhill since years past, one can only remember the monopoly it once had! It's hard to even try to do an article on Nickelodeon, for there is way too much to even cover. I know that I just discussed the tip of the iceberg, but this trip down memory lane was well worth it to me.

You Know What's a Bad Idea?

UNCW Football.

i was going write a long argumentative type essay about why UNCW should NOT have a football team, but that would take too long.

Instead I will just give a bulleted list of points why we shouldn't.

  • Space. We don't have it. Even the smallest of football fields would still take up more space than we have to build. The argument could be made that we build on the intermural field, but that field is used by thousands of students, most every day for various other sports. Don't take that away from them.
  • Money. We don't have it. It takes a lot to build a good stadium, and even to build a good team. You need tons of equipment, uniforms, pads, lockers, a field house, ect. And UNCWs budget is being cut but at least 6% if not more. Correct me if I'm wrong but the number one rule of spending is that you need the money to spend. Don't Buy Stuff You Cannot Afford.
  • Talent. We don't have it. This is more of an assumption, but if there is a football player worth having on a football team, chances are they already play for someone else. And no graduating High School senior would go to Wilmington for football if there was any other option. Nobody wants to be the guinea pig of an experimental team. We already have a terrible basketball team, isn't that enough? Do we really need a terrible football team as well?

That's all I've got for now.

I'm going to go catch up on How I Met Your Mother.

The Down Low.

I have been kind of avoiding writing this blog.
It has been a while since my last post, and its hard to get back into the routine.
Especially since i have nothing to say.

Therefore, since the majority of the 'followers' of this blog are friends/family from home, this post will just be an update of what's going on in my life.

Firstly, the video from my "Youtube Famous" blog is up.
It's not featured yet but it should be soon.
you can watch it here.

I have finally caught up on the current season of How I Met Your Mother.
This is probably on of my favorite shows on the TV. It is also the most underrated.
This show is consistently funny.

I have been listening to a lot of Christian music lately. but not the crap that's on the radio. That music as been the same song since i was in second grade.
I have been listening to old school stuff like DC Talk, Relient K, and a lot of The Newsboys.
It puts me in a good mood.
I find this to be a positive thing.

People have randomly been complimenting me a lot recently.
I have no idea why, but it started a couple days ago.
It's almost like everybody got together and planned it.
One friend of mine told me that i have an incredibly good taste in music and wants me to make them a CD of my best stuff.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is being shown at Lumina this Friday.
I was picked to play the part of Brad.
Mostly because i have similar glasses.
I have mixed feelings about this.
On the one hand i am extremely excited because it is going to be a lot of fun.
On the other hand i have to wear a really awkward costume for the last half hour of the movie and i am really not looking forward to that.
Especially since this is being filmed and photographed.
I will have a lot of 'untagging' to do on facebook this weekend.

I have become very good at the game Hearts.
There is a free version on my laptop and i have been playing it quite often.
I've had a final score of less than 50 most every round.
I'm even learning some new strategies.
That sounds really pathetic. dang.

I got a really awesome/funny/true fortune cookie the other day.
"Your infinite capacity for patience will be rewarded...eventually."
i laughed incredibly hard when i opened this.
You are patient and for that you will be rewarded, but you have to wait for it!
hah!

Anyway, that is basically whats going on right now.

So, there you go.
